Promoting Digital Inclusion: Empowering Women with Albinism through Technology in Nigeria

Promoting Digital Inclusion: In a significant step toward promoting inclusion and digital empowerment, a group of women with albinism recently completed a 10-day digital skills training programme focused on productivity and online creativity.

The initiative, organised in partnership with advocates for persons with disabilities, equipped participants with essential skills in word processing, presentation design, and social media content creation. A total of ten women took part in the programme, all of whom were contestants in the first Albinism Advocacy Beauty Pageant — a platform designed to promote confidence, representation, and empowerment.

One of the participants, Rebecca Olabode, described the experience as transformative, noting that the training has enhanced her ability to pursue advocacy and educational goals with greater confidence and digital competence.

The programme concluded with a closing ceremony attended by advocates from disability inclusion organisations and representatives of the Albinism Association of Nigeria (Lagos Chapter).

This initiative underscores the importance of accessible education and inclusive opportunities for all, proving that when accessibility and empowerment intersect, meaningful change happens.
